Gen Z in Latin America and privacy: the commitment of Luzia
We have been listening closely to our users at Luzia, and a recent survey across Latin America has given us some revealing data. A significant number of Generation Z users have expressed concerns about privacy, and it's something we take very seriously.
Key findings of our survey
The survey, in which 1,000 young people between the ages of 13 and 30 from Brazil, Mexico, Colombia and Argentina participated, revealed that:
- 74% did not know that some large technology companies use their social media data to train AI models.
- 60% would not allow their favorite apps to use their data to train AI.
- 81% have stopped using apps for privacy reasons.
- 72% are concerned about not having control over how their data is used.
- 61% would switch to other platforms if they offered greater data privacy.
Our commitment to you
When we launched Luzia, our goal was to democratize access to artificial intelligence by prioritizing your privacy. We started on platforms like WhatsApp and Telegram, but as we grew, we knew we needed our own app to give you more control over your data.
"If we had continued to offer Luzia through external apps, it would have been impossible to further democratize access to AI due to its high costs and it would have prevented us from having more control over how user data is collected and used. This is a key element of Luzia's mission: to be accessible to everyone," says Alvaro Higes, our CEO and co-founder.
Tools designed for you
Luzia is more than an AI assistant: it is a tool designed to help you in your daily life, especially in education and personal development. Here are some of the features we offer:
- Math problem solving: Take a picture and Luzia will not only give you the result, but also explain it to you.
- Document reader: Summarizes or answers questions from a picture of a document.
- Unique image creation: Create images from descriptions.
- Image recognition: Describes, translates or solves questions about an image.
- Audio transcription and translation: And much more.
You can find Luzia in the Apple and Android app stores, available in over 40 countries, completely free of charge. We are backed by Silicon Valley investors and have reached 50 million users worldwide.
Transparency and trust
We built Luzia with your trust in mind. Unlike other big tech companies, we don't train our AI on your messages or collect demographic data. This transparency is crucial, especially for our Generation Z users, who are looking for a more direct and honest relationship with their apps.
"Luzia is especially close to Generation Z and, as a friend, aims to support educational growth and personal development. We offer a wide range of tools designed to streamline school work and homework in a smart way, becoming an ally in the personal development of our users," reflects Pablo Delgado, Head of Brand and Communication at Luzia.
Our survey highlights a clear message: you care about your privacy, and so do we. Luzia is committed to being a reliable and accessible AI assistant that respects your data and helps you achieve your goals.
